I feel Beats 1 is actually quite good at keeping it's audience engaged and active. They have many new ways of communicating with them that come with being part of Apple.
Firstly Beats 1 allows you to access them on media's such as twitter by their account @Beats1. As Twitter is quite an interactive you could get a very quick reply from them, but as Beats 1 is quite a new radio it does not have as many followers as expected. As an example the Youtuber Zoella, who you can find out more under my online, social and participatory media tab, has over 12 million followers and Beats 1 has only 565K. They still have a long way to go, but it's a start and gives listeners who do follow a quick way to react and get response wanted. As Beats 1 is an apple product and this gives many advantages as you can also make requests through they're apps such as iMessages to specific iCloud address. Beats 1 like many radios have a Mixtape segment where you can submit songs, but they're advantage on this you can make suggestions straight on the Music app which all apple users would have. What I find quite cool and would personally really enjoy using is the feature. It allows you to the buy the music you hear on the radio onto apple music, which means you can 'shift' music from 'radio' to your own playlist. So every time you hear something you like you just move it over and voila.
