We had the task to make a CD cover using the glitch effect to show our skills on photoshop. I decided to make a rather simple cover as I feel that simplicity is key in making a statement. I took pictures of my model from different close up shot and different angles. I then put them in strips picking out only some features. There I enlarge them, to make them proportional to the rest. This way I tried making a glitch effect. I think the effect created was quite interesting as it was simple but put the idea through. I kept some images black and white and aloud some to be colour to create contrast to the piece. For future reference I know that I need to take more crazy shots, because they are all worth using at the end. As well as I have to watch out for the background, and different lightings. The title of the album I put in the far right top corner. I decided not to make it big, this way I am making a statement and it’s not taking away from the image. I picked a bold, capitalised title to stand out and made the artists name in smaller underneath. Both the title and the artists name I put in white. This let it stand out the background and was neutral. I also find white fit with the black and white theme, and at times I feel bright colours make it look cheap. I was inspired by the short project “Destroy Rankin” in which Rankin, a famous photographer, asked 70 musicians to “destroy” their own portraits, which were taken by himself. The destruction was quite simple but I liked the concept. Below I will put the ones I quite liked the most and got most of my inspiration from. Destroy Rankin edits |
