Psychometrics is using demographics such as age, gender and job. It helps categorise people, but many don't agree with the results they are given because many don't feel like they fit in traditional categories, or fit in more than one. The psychometrics audience profile takes on what you think, your values, lifestyle and attitudes towards different subjects. The psychometric method helps advertising companies base their audience. When looking at the definitions of the categories presented on BBC Bitzesize, I've decided I fit into two group the Mainstreamer and the Struggler. When it comes to brands and money I do indeed tend to lean towards trusted brands that are value for money and like to feel secure and like others, but at times my mindset is completely different and I prefer to be weird me and stand out. This is where the Struggler comes out. As a Struggler I prefer to not think ahead and just 'go with the flow' and see where it takes me. I later took the 16personality.com personality test, which is another way of determining your psychometrics. I found the test quite useful, it asked pretty basic questions to which we had to answer to what extent we agree. After completing the test you get a rather detailed description about your category, what I thought was cool is that underneath they give you famous celebrities that have the same personality traits as you.
When I did the test I ended up being put under a category "The Campaigner" (ENFP-T). I thought it was quite a fun experience and think that it's a fun thing to do and it's quite interesting top read through what personality group I apparently fit under.

Not Social profiling is a process of making up a persons profile using his/hers social data, status in community, job, money earned etc.
The Classes are broken up into groups to help classify them:
Class A- It consists off people who would be stereotypically characteristic as posh. They are the rich people in the UK, and have that extra money to spend. Lot's of the time in comes from family money and the child wouldn't have to work their whole life, living of the money of previous generations. If the work they usually earn over 100,000 British pounds a year. Class B- This is the class I would consider my family. They are engineers, doctors, teachers job that require professionalization and further education. This group would have the money to spend on leisure. Class C1- These people have not as high qualifications but are still skilled. Class C2- These people are plumbers, electricians, but they haven't been to University but did go through training. Class D- These people don't get specific training, assistant. Class E- These people are usually unemployed or on a pension. These people would be struggling with money. Just as an example I tried to present what a average family would be like in Oman. Obviously that would be different from what an average family would be like in England. In Oman they would probably fit under class B, middle class, and would be much better off than people in the UK. I made my own little family up here it is: |
